2012 Beat the Street for Little Feet 

Our annual "Beat the Street for Little Feet" race will be held on Saturday, April 14 at Coan Park. To run this race, please register by April 12th.  If you are interested in sponsoring the event, please contact us at 5k@oakhurstcoop.com.

OCP Summer Camp 2012

OCP will offer a six-week summer camp in 2012; the weeks of camp will be:

  • June 11-15 
  • June 18-22 
  • July 9-13 
  • July 16-20 
  • July 30-August 3 
  • August 6-10

We seek individuals who are looking to join a community-minded, parent-led cooperative environment. Our teachers are committed to excellence in teaching, parent education and dialogue, self-development, and collegial cooperation. Creating a community of parents, teachers and children within our school is a critically important element to our success as a cooperative preschool. Although OCP is overseen by a board of parent volunteers, our staff creates that special "nido" environment for our children to learn, play and grow together. Candidates must demonstrate enthusiastic and caring personalities.

Qualifications:

A Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education or related area of study preferred. Both leads and assistants MUST have prior classroom experience teaching young children (ages 3-4). Additionally, Waldorf, Reggio, and Creative Curriculum teacher training and classroom experience are preferred. Teachers enjoy a competitive salary and health stipend, mentoring, and support for professional development.

Lead Teachers are responsible for the emotional, intellectual and social growth of their students by developing and executing lesson plans using developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy. They are also responsible for documentation, bi-annual student assessments and parent-teacher conferences, ongoing parent communication, mentoring of assistant teachers, and overall classroom management. Assistant Teachers are responsible for assisting lead teacher with classroom responsibilities, parent communication and assisting the director as needed.

School hours are are 8:30am-1:30pm, Monday-Friday. Teachers are also expected to attend all teacher planning and orientation days, staff meetings, teacher work days, open houses and other community events as assigned by the OCP Director.
