  Born in Osaka, Japan, Tadashi came to the United States in 1987. In 1989 he attended Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia. There, he found his true calling in the Art Department’s glassblowing studio. In 2005, he opened Duckbill Studios in Decatur and is working on a unique collection of art and functional glass pieces inspired in part by his heritage and by his children, Kenzo and Mayuko.   James Dean has found immense pleasure in sharing his work with others. His work has been described as simple, honest and joyful. Today, James Dean is a successful full-time artist who lives in Oakhurst.
