Wendy Yang

After a wonderful first year as a teacher teaching the Pipits class (two year-olds), Wendy Yang is excited to be teaching the Owls class this year (three year-olds). Her family is one of the founding families of the cooperative preschool, and her daughter Aria (now 8) and son Justin (now 5) are both alumni. She has a Master’s degree in Zoology and worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for five years before deciding to stay home with Aria and Justin. In addition to mothering her own children, she has also worked as a nanny for four children over the past three years.

Wendy plans to extend her lifestyle to her teaching. She is very environmentally conscious, and is an attachment parent who enjoys cooking whole foods. She would like children to develop a strong self-image while learning valuable social skills. She plans to encourage children to appreciate nature through the cycle of the seasons through songs, discussions, activities, and simple craft projects.

She loves OCP, and believes that a cooperative setting can best provide support to curious minds that wish to learn by imitation, because children will emulate parents who confidently and intimately involve themselves in their learning experiences.
